With our 4c hair in particular, keeping it moisturized is an ARTFORM. Our hair can be juicy and healthy just like everybody else, but you’ve got to use oils the right way to help keep that moisture in.
Moisturizing oils penetrate your hair shaft and scalp and help to moisturize your hair. Use these with leave ins, for hot oil treatments, or add to your deep conditioner.
Moisturizing oils for 4c hair:
- coconut oil (see how you like it, it doesn’t work for everyone)
- babassu oil
- olive oil
- avocado oil (one of our personal faves)
Sealing oils help to keep all that water and moisturizing oil locked and loaded. Use these after moisturizing your hair. Many creams and butters will contain these oils, or you can try sealing with just oils alone.
Sealing oils for 4c hair:
- Jamaican black castor oil (best to mix this with something less thick)
- grapeseed oil
- jojoba oil
- shea butter
